Rainbow Meringues by Little-rolling-bean Rainbow Meringues by Little-rolling-bean
I made some rainbow meringues for my school for easter. I put them in a ziplock bag with some easter grass, a chick and easter eggs. They were very easy to make (until the rainbow part).
Here is the recipe: [link]
I divided the mixture into 4 bowls, and using wilton gel food coloring (you cannot used water based, it will ruin it) I tinted each one red, yellow, blue and green. I then got a piping bag with a whipped piping tip and scooped all the colors in together (I do not know which number tip, it was a cheap plastic one from the supermarket. But I am sure you would know what it is by looking at the picture) (the colors will not mix into a brown unless you squeeze and disturb the bag too much). I put some heart and star sprinkles on them (I didn't with this one) before putting them in the oven (sprinkles can bake without burning). This is not a tutorial, just saying how I did it.

They tasted really nice. And they tasted just like the Lucky Charms marshmallows! The so-called marshmallows in the cereal were little meringues after all!

My family always makes meringues for Christmas. We usually put peppermint and raspberry extract in ours. Peppermint for green and raspberry for red.

Wow, I didn't know you could put extract in them since they fail so easily if done wrong! Ive always wanted to make mint, strawberry, etc meringues but thought they were impossible. Any little thing wrong they can flop. I made a batch today, they failed because I forgot the pinch of cream of tarter! I made a second one after and added two teaspoons of coco powder and made chocolate meringues :D I will soon upload to my instagram, if you're interested: [link]

Yeah. They took a bit. Yet we got the extract in them along with chocolate chips to. I like your Instagram. It's really cool.

Thanks! I should try that next time. Powdered, paste or gel extracts should be fine in meringues, I used gel food coloring for these and they were fine :D
